An effective tool to raise the quality of implementing the SDGs, is to contextualise their delivery by taking into account the local perspective. The 'localisation' concept emerged from experience of the MDGs which generally followed a top-down approach, consequently undermining the aspirations of inclusive development.
Non-state actors including NGOs, think tanks, media and private sectors, in developing countries, like Bangladesh, are playing a critical role in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They are contributing in this SDG journey through prioritising development agenda, implementing the targets, monitoring the delivery and ensuring accountability in the overall process.
দেশের উপকূলীয় অঞ্চলে উপজেলা ও ইউনিয়ন পর্যায়ে যেসকল কমিউনিটি ক্লিনিক বা স্বাস্থ্য কেন্দ্র রয়েছে, সেখানে প্রয়োজনীয় সংখ্যক দক্ষ লোকবলের অভাব রয়েছে। এর ফলে, প্রতিনিয়ত বিভিন্ন প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগের মুখে থাকা বরগুনার মতো দেশের উপকূলীয় অঞ্চলগুলোর অধিবাসীদের পর্যাপ্ত স্বাস্থ্যসেবা নিশ্চিতকরণ সম্ভব হচ্ছে না।
There is a shortage of adequate and skilled human resources at the community clinics and health centers in the coastal region of Bangladesh. People of these hard-to-reach and disaster-prone areas are being deprived of necessary health services due to lack of human resource in public services.
Bangladesh is in its journey to achieve the SDGs by 2030 and it will not be possible if our people in the Haor areas are left behind. The government should focus on improving the quality of public services for Haor development such as subsidised banking schemes, loans for small and medium enterprises with lower interest and adequate budgetary allocations for improving improve the Haor livelihoods.
